De Oekraiense Orthodoxe Kerk van het Patriarchaat van Kiev houdt zondag 28 februari een unieke viering in Amsterdam. Het gaat om de kerk die zich in 1992 na de onafhankelijkheid heeft losgemaakt van het patriarchaat van Moskou. Dankzij de bemiddeling van de Raad van Kerken Amsterdam (waarvan de Russisch Orthodoxe parochie zeer loyaal lid is) zal de dienst plaatsvinden in de Oranjekerk. Iedere belangstellende is van harte welkom om 13.45 uur. De liturgie zal plaatsvinden in de Oekraïnse taal en worden geleid door aartsbisschop Rivnenskiy en Ostrozkiy, Ilarion.
Dat heeft Henk Meulink, voorzitter van de Raad van Kerken in Amsterdam, meegedeeld. De Raad van Kerken benadrukt dat iedereen hartelijk welkom is, en dat de viering tegelijk voor mensen een nadere kennismaking kan zijn met de schoonheid van deze orthodoxe liturgie.
De Oekraïne is veel in het nieuws. De voortdurende gewelddadigheden in het oostelijk deel tussen Oekraïners die een eigen lijn willen volgen als land en Moskou-getrouwe Oekraïners roepen aanhoudende spanningen op. Daarbij komt in Nederland het referendum, dat op 6 april zal worden gehouden, afgedwongen door Geenpeil. Over het associatieverdrag tussen de EU en Oekraïne. De vraag die op het stembiljet komt te staan luidt: Bent u voor of tegen de wet tot goedkeuring van de Associatieovereenkomst tussen de Europese Unie en Oekraïne? De Europese Unie sloot vorig jaar al een verdrag met Oekraïne. Dat moet de economische en politieke banden versterken en kan leiden tot een vrijhandelsakkoord.

Press-release: For the first time in Dutch history a divine liturgy of the Ukrainian Orthodox church of the Kyiv Parish will take place in Amsterdam.
For the first time in Dutch history, a Ukrainian Episcopal God’s liturgy will take place 28.02.2016.
The worship will take place within the beautiful Oranjekerk, located at Van Ostadestraat 151, 1073 TK Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This church is located within the heart of Amsterdam’s popular area names The Pijp.
The liturgy will be given in Ukrainian and will be performed by Archbishops Rivnenskiy and Ostrozkiy, Ilarion – two young positively spirited Archbishops blessed by His Holiness from the Kyiv Parish and All Rus- Ukraine, Filaret.
Together with the Archbishops, the liturgy will be co-performed by Archimandrite Kirion Head of Missions department of the DFRC, Kyiv city, Archipriest Valeriy Semantso. During the Divine Liturgy there will be an opportunity for everyone to participate in holy sacraments of Confession and Holy Communion. At the end of the liturgy a special prayer will take place for peace in Ukraine: guests and believers of all confessions are welcome to join.
All guests will be able to indulge into the lovely historical chants of the Orthodox belief performed by a most talented and angelic choir all the way from Kiev especially for this event!
The choir is from the ¨Kyevska Pravoslavna Bogoslovska¨ academy. Invited by the Orthodox Kiev Parish and by the foundation Ukraine Today.
